GP-Inside vous en parlait cette semaine, chiffres à l’appui : Andrea Dovizioso signe la pire première partie de saison de sa carrière en MotoGP, débutée en 2008. Avec seulement 8 points marqués lors des neuf premières courses, le triple vice-champion du monde, de 2017 à 2019, est extrêmement loin de son niveau d’antan. À 36 ans et sans véritables options pour la suite, il pourrait être dans sa dernière campagne en catégorie reine.
Que fera-t-il ensuite ? Sa présence en spectateur au dernier round en date du championnat du monde Superbike, à Misano, a soulevé quelques questions. Mais Andrea Dovizioso a chassé les doutes en arrivant au Grand Prix d’Allemagne : « Je suis allé à Misano pour voir (Michael Ruben) Rinaldi, car c’est mon ami. Le Superbike n’a jamais été une option pour moi. »
Pas de WorldSBK au programme en 2023 pour l’actuel pilote du WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team, donc. Son avenir pourrait s’écrire en tout-terrain, poursuivant ce qu’il avait commencé à faire en 2021, avant de revenir au bitume. « Pour moi, le motocross est quelque chose de très intéressant, surtout avec le projet que j’ai en tête, car je ne suis pas compétitif en MotoGP pour le moment. »
